A hair transplant at a US clinic is normally quoted per graft, which is why the final bill so often lands above the first estimate — a 3,000-graft case at $4 a graft is $12,000 before anaesthesia and follow-up. In Punta Cana the price is $2,790 regardless of graft count, and it is confirmed in writing after the free analysis, not after the surgery.

Why Punta Cana
The surgeons, not the postcode
Hair transplantation is a manual craft — results follow the team performing it. The surgeons operating in Punta Cana are the same ones who built Istanbul Care's track record of more than 10,000 procedures. The location changed; the hands did not.
A short flight, not a transatlantic one
Punta Cana is roughly two hours from Miami, three and a half from New York and four from Toronto, in a time zone you already live in. Compare that with ten hours to Istanbul plus the jet lag on both ends — which matters more than people expect during the first days after surgery.
A quarter of the US price
The same procedure runs $8,000 to $15,000 at a US clinic, usually quoted per graft so the final bill only appears at the end. Here it is one number, $2,790, agreed in writing before you book a flight.
Recovery somewhere worth being
The days after a transplant are quiet ones: no sun on the scalp, no swimming, no exertion. Doing that in a Caribbean resort rather than a city hotel is the reason many patients choose this over Istanbul.
How the trip works
- 1
Day 0 — Free hair analysis
Send a few photos of your hairline and crown. The surgeon reviews them and comes back with a graft estimate, the technique they would use and a written quote. No charge, no obligation.
- 2
Day 1 — Arrival and consultation
You land in Punta Cana (PUJ). Blood work and an in-person consultation the same day or the next morning, where the hairline is drawn and agreed with you before anything begins.
- 3
Day 2 — The procedure
A full day at the clinic, typically six to eight hours depending on graft count, under local anaesthesia. You are awake, you can talk, eat and take breaks throughout.
- 4
Day 3-4 — First wash and review
The dressing comes off, the first wash is done for you, and you are shown how to repeat it at home. The surgeon checks the grafts before clearing you to travel.
- 5
Month 1-12 — Growth
Shedding around week three is expected and normal. New growth starts around month three, and the final result settles between months nine and twelve. Follow-up stays open by WhatsApp throughout.

Questions people actually ask
Why would I go to the Dominican Republic for a hair transplant?
Because of who is operating, not where. This is the Turkish surgical team behind Istanbul Care, working in Punta Cana so that patients in North America can reach them in three hours instead of ten. You get the technique and the pricing that made Turkey the centre of this field, without the transatlantic trip.
How much does a hair transplant in Punta Cana cost?
A flat $2,790, all-inclusive, agreed in writing before you book anything. There is no per-graft surcharge and no separate theatre or anaesthesia fee. Flights and hotel are not included — you book those yourself, which keeps you free to choose your own resort and dates.
How does that compare with having it done in the US?
US clinics generally charge $8,000 to $15,000, usually quoted per graft, so a 3,000-graft case can land well above the initial estimate. The difference here is not a compromise on the procedure; it is the cost base of operating outside the United States.
How long do I need to stay?
Four nights is enough: arrival and consultation, the procedure, the first wash and review, then travel home. Many patients extend it into a holiday, which is easier here than in Istanbul.
Which technique is used?
Sapphire FUE or DHI, chosen at consultation based on your hair characteristics and the area being covered. Both are follicular unit extraction — no strip surgery, no linear scar.
Is it safe to fly home a few days after surgery?
Yes. The surgeon reviews the grafts before clearing you to travel and gives you a short list of in-flight precautions — no pressure on the recipient area, keep hydrated, no hat until they say so. The short flight home is one of the practical advantages of operating in the Caribbean.
Can I go in the sun or swim afterwards?
Not for the first stretch. Direct sun on the recipient area and pool or sea water are both off the list for the first two weeks. You are given exact dates at the review appointment. Plan the beach part of the trip for before the procedure, not after.
What if I need a second session later?
Discuss it at the consultation. Density expectations and whether a second pass is likely are set out honestly before you commit — you should know that up front, not discover it a year later.
